Hi!
During our last exchange, Natalie and I talked about studies. She has only four classes (french, sociology and informatic two times) for about 20 hours a week, which is very different than me because we have a lot of different classes. The organisation of a class is also different and divided in two parts (lecture and discussion).
She has to pay $30,000 for a year, which is huge for me who pays less than one thousand euros!! Her parents pay half of the price and Natalie pays the other thanks to her student jobs ans her student loans. She works after school for the university about 15 hours a week but she doesn't receive a lot of money for that.
To be accepted at UCI, she had to pass an exam (SAT) which shows the skills in litterature, grammar and maths. She also had to write a few essays. When she visited UCI, she was sure that she wanted to go there because it's a good university and she loves South California!!!
It is really interesting to see the differences between the USA and France about studies. But finally, we will have almost the same diploma and we will work with American people even if the formation was different.
Bye!
